OCALA, FL June 6, 2007 Intellon Corporation, a leading provider of HomePlug®-compatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment, broadband over powerline (BPL) and smart grid applications, announced that it has now shipped more than 10 million HomePlug-based powerline communications ICs to OEMs and service providers worldwide.

Consumers are using Intellon's HomePlug-based ICs for a wide range of applications including in-home data networking, Wi-Fi and Ethernet extension, audio and video streaming, online gaming and home monitoring. Intellon's HomePlug AV-based ICs enable consumers and service providers to distribute high definition video and audio content over existing in-home electrical wires, representing a new, more user-friendly method of entertainment connectivity. Consumer products using Intellon's HomePlug-based ICs are available at major retailers.

More than 30 cable operators, telecom carriers and satellite and WiMAX providers in Asia, Europe and North America are using Intellon's HomePlug-based ICs to install broadband modems, cure Wi-Fi coverage problems, distribute IPTV from the home gateway to the customer's television and make it easier for subscribers to order movies on demand. Electric utilities are also using Intellon's HomePlug-based ICs for remote meter reading, load control management, and the delivery of Internet access and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony to participating customers. Other companies are using Intellon's ICs to provide broadband services to hotels, condominiums, resorts, office buildings, military installations and emergency services facilities.
