OCALA, FL - April 11, 2006 - Intellon Corporation, the leading provider of HomePlugcompatible integrated circuits (ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment and broadband over powerline (BPL) applications, announced that it has shipped more than 10 million powerline communications (PLC) ICs to manufacturers and service providers worldwide, including more than five million ICs based on the global HomePlug standard. Sales of Intellon's HomePlug ICs are now running at a rate of more than one million per quarter. These significant product milestones reinforce Intellon's continued international leadership in powerline IC deployment, where the company has enabled more customers and sold more HomePlug powerline communications ICs than all other PLC IC vendors combined.
"Hitting this milestone signifies that the demand for reliable, secure and simple-to-use in-home entertainment networking silicon is on the rise," said IdaRose Sylvester, Senior Analyst at IDC. "It is expected that HomePlug-enabled product shipments will continue to increase, as the HomePlug technology adoption rate increases in a variety of consumer electronics platforms worldwide in 2006 and beyond."
"Simple and reliable connectivity is essential in the digital home, and the market is recognizing the value and convenience that Intellon's HomePlug-certified powerline solutions provide," said Charlie Harris, Intellon's Chairman and CEO. "With products based on Intellon's No New Wires® ICs, service providers and consumers across the globe can create instant plug-and-play networking over the existing electrical wiring in a home."
