TCL Joins HomePlug® Powerline Alliance Board of Directors

Alliance adds one of the world's largest television manufacturer and leading consumer electronics vendor to its growing roster of major global consumer electronics leaders supporting standards-based powerline technologies

Shanghai, China - November 9, 2006 - Driving the worldwide acceptance of high-speed
networking over powerlines, the HomePlug® Powerline Alliance today announced that TCL has
joined the HomePlug Implementers' Forum Board of Directors. TCL is the world's largest
manufacturer of television sets and a global supplier of consumer electronics products. With the
addition of TCL, the HomePlug Powerline Alliance continues to align the world's leading
electronics manufacturers around the global HomePlug family of standards. The HomePlug
Powerline Alliance now features the top three global television suppliers in LG, Samsung and
TCL on its board of directors.

"As a global leader in consumer electronics and the world's largest television manufacturer, TCL
understands the importance of HomePlug's open-standards approach to powerline technologies,
and their membership will serve as a key factor in shaping the Alliance for the future," said
Mathew Theall of Intel Corporation, who also serves as president of the HomePlug Powerline
Alliance. "We anticipate TCL playing a key role in shaping the future of digital home connectivity."

"TCL consistently delivers the highest quality consumer electronic products, including a focus on
digital displays and televisions," said David Zhang, TCL Vice President of Research. "By joining
the HomePlug Board of Directors, we can ensure that our products will be fully functional with
next generation home networking."

The TCL announcement comes during this week's Intel Developer Forum® in Shanghai and also
follows announcements earlier this week that Texas Instruments and LG Electronics (Korea) have
also joined the HomePlug Board of Directors. The addition of TCL, TI and LG to the Alliance's
leadership team is expected to influence the extended capabilities of digital connectivity in
television and next generation electronics.

The HomePlug Alliance's family of standards embraces several focus areas: HomePlug 1.0 + AV
(in-home connectivity, including digital home and consumer electronics applications); HomePlug
BPL (to-the-home, Broadband-over-Powerline applications); and HomePlug Command and
Control (Home Automation applications).
