D-Link Launches Industry’s First Gigabit PowerLine Kits with MIMO

New PowerLine AV2 Starter Kits Instantly Transform Existing Electrical Outlets into a Powerful Gigabit Wired Network

INTERNATIONAL CES, LAS VEGAS – Jan. 5, 2015 – D-Link today announced the industry’s first-to-market PowerLine AV2 2000 Gigabit Starter Kit (DHP-701AV) and an updated PowerLine AV2 1000 Gigabit Starter Kit (DHP-601AV), offering faster gigabit performance. Utilizing the latest HomePlug AV2 industry-standard technology, the DHP-701AV and DHP-601AV turn virtually any home wall outlet into a powerful network connection1 to handle a range of high-bandwidth applications, including online gaming and HD video streaming with speeds of up to 2000Mbps (DHP-701AV).2 The plug-and-play DHP-701AV and DHP-601AV are designed with push button secure setup to connect to your existing network with no configuration required.

Featuring two PowerLine AV2 2000 adapters, the DHP-701AV leverages the latest in AV2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology and 2000Mbps connectivity, allowing users to transfer larger files with ease and enjoy uninterrupted HD media streaming and online gaming. The addition of MIMO technology allows the adapters to utilize the fastest two wires in a typical three-wire (live, neutral and ground) installation, delivering expanded home network coverage. The updated DHP-601AV kit includes two DHP-600AV PowerLine AV2 1000 Gigabit Adapters to create a high-speed HomePlug network with speeds of up to 1000Mbps.2

“Our latest PowerLine solutions underscore the growing needs of connected homes – an ever-expanding list of bandwidth-intensive applications,” said Ken Loyd, director of consumer product marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. “Whether gaming online, streaming HD media or extending your home network, the new PowerLine Starter Kits transform any room’s existing electrical wiring to seamlessly connect everything together, providing the highest quality streaming and fastest throughput speeds available. They are the perfect complement to an existing home network.”

1 Power outlets and electrical wiring must all be part of the same electrical system. Certain electrical conditions in your home, such as wiring conditions and configuration may affect the performance of this product. A minimum of two PowerLine devices are required to create a network. Connecting this product to a power strip with a surge protector may adversely affect the performance of this product. For best results, plug adapter directly into a power outlet.

2 Maximum throughputs based on theoretical transmission PHY rate. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of traffic and network overhead, may lower actual data throughput rate. Interference from devices that emit electrical noise, such as vacuum cleaners and hair dryers, may adversely affect the performance of the product. This product may interfere with devices such as lighting systems that have a dimmer switch, short wave radios, or other PowerLine devices that do not follow the HomePlug PowerLine Alliance Standard.

3 The device will enter power saving mode when no traffic is detected for a period of 5 minutes. Power consumption in power saving mode is up to 85% lower than for normal consumption.
