HomePlug technology application: Whole-Home Audio

Imagine a stereo system where each component had only a single wire connected to it.

Only one wire - the power cable - connects the CD player, the iPod dock, the receiver, the speakers, the amplifiers, and even libraries of songs housed on computers and NAS servers. With HomePlug technology, all of these components work together to form a single system -- playing multi-zone music throughout the home.

No more worrying about color-coding, mismatched impedances, buying lengthy strands of expensive speaker wire, or drilling holes in walls and floors to accommodate them. HomePlug technology is now embedded directly inside the components of whole-house audio systems, allowing full-range digital music to be distributed throughout a home.

HomePlug technology is used by major audio brands like Russound and NuVo Technologies (both of whom are HomePlug members that have won major industry awards for their systems). They are bringing products to market that are being sold and distributed through dealers for installation in homes both old and new.

HomePlug technology also adds a breakthrough component to home audio systems: metadata. Now, not only is digital audio is transferred around the house, but metadata such as the song title, artist, album covers, and other information is carried along on the same wires that supply electrical power. All of this enhances the enjoyment of music by all your favorite artists.
